In this video, Tony Wickenden looks at what we know about Conservative tax policy so far under Boris Johnson's new government.

Based on what our new prime minister said when campaigning for the leadership, the direction of travel appears to be a government that aspires to a low tax environment.

Boris Johnson has already said he favours increasing the higher rate tax threshold to £80,000, and Tony discusses the implications such a move would have on National Insurance.

There have also been hints on lower corporation tax rates, and on reducing the highest rate of stamp duty land tax.

Tony also flags public statements about the possibility of holding an 'emergency Budget'.
