With the election behind us and a new year ahead, it's a good time to consider the likely changes to tax policy to be ushered in by the new government and how these will impact on financial planning.

Here Tony Wickenden outlines the main aspects of tax planning that could be subject to change.

The video pre-dates this week's announcement of the Budget date of 11 March, but still signposts the areas of tax policy that the government is expected to be looking closely at.

These include the promised review of entrepreneurs' relief, potential changes to inheritance tax and the developing story around the IR35 rules and their impact on contractors.

Tony also points to the government's pledge to tackle the issues surrounding the tapered annual allowance (albeit for doctors only).
