There were many standout talks at the most recent Humans Under Management conference in London.

This, from First Wealth partner and co-founder Robert Caplan, was one of them.

Robert talks about the risks of making assumptions about what it really is that clients want out of life, and how to identify the most important things from what clients are telling you.

Building his talk around the recurrent theme that "things are not always what they seem", he weaves in his own personal story about the assumptions made about his health, both by himself and the medical professionals around him.

He encourages fellow planners to see the whole picture when engaging with clients, which he argues is the difference between empowering change and simply giving advice.
